Systems Administrator II The Systems Administrator II performs multiple functions to ensure IT infrastructure is available, reliable, secure, and stable either individually or under the guidance of experienced personnel. This role will be responsible for monitoring systems and serving as a focal point for support. The Systems Administrator II will plan for the future by setting and documenting direction for their specific area of responsibility for the information systems infrastructure. Primary duties will revolve around applying existing Linux skills with the willingness to learn, manage and support all aspects of our big data environments. Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluates, configures, and maintains systems including installing and testing new releases. Monitors and evaluates operating efficiency, analyze performance and tuning. Analyzes system problems to identify problem areas. Mitigates application and operating system vulnerabilities to ensure security of information systems. Follows established procedures required for efficient management of the infrastructure. Maintains appropriate records including statistical reports, inventories, and technical documentation among others. Installs new or enhanced applications and/or hardware; assist in the installation of servers. Manages medium enterprise projects according to division standards and requirements. Serves as a subject matter expert within one's area of responsibility regarding information systems infrastructure. Has broad technical knowledge of information systems and recommends solutions based on current infrastructure components. You Must Have: 2+ years of systems administration experience Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer-related courses, or two additional years of direct work experience Ability to travel up to 10% of the time Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job United States Citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations) We Value: Ability to translate security requirements into innovative, repeatable solutions that resolve complex cyber security threats and harden infrastructure. Hands-on knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, including servers, workstations, and peripheral device integration. Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, PowerShell, Python) to provision, configure, and maintain databases, web services, and applications. Experience installing, configuring, and managing web/application servers, database clusters, backup-and-recovery systems, portals, firewalls, VPNs, terminal services, authentication/authorization, collaboration platforms, and load-balancing solutions. Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem technologies (Spark, HDFS, Hive, Kafka, NiFi, HBase, Yarn, Zookeeper, etc.) and hands-on implementation of the Cloudera Data Platform. Background with relational and NoSQL stores (SQL, Hive, Cassandra, MongoDB, HBase, in-memory databases) and the ability to optimize performance and reliability. Experience in designing, building, and operating end-to-end CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Git, Ansible or equivalent), with a focus on automated testing, reliable artifact promotion, and continuous delivery. Experience with Kubernetes across multiple distributions (OpenShift, ROSA, Amazon EKS) including multi-cluster management, policy enforcement, and monitoring. Experience with OpenShift deployments (on-prem and cloud), leveraging Advanced Cluster Management, Quay, Operators, GitOps, and Service Mesh to ensure security, scalability, and high availability. Working knowledge of AI/ML workflows, GPU-accelerated computing, TensorFlow, and related tooling to support data science workloads. Ability to craft and present clear, strategic technical roadmaps that resonate with both technical teams and senior leadership. Honeywell is an equal opportunity employer.
