Quality Engineer The Quality Engineer will work cooperatively in a team environment to support development of robust manufacturing processes and quality systems that support the companys growth in the industrial and aerospace casting markets. Quality system and problem-solving skills are essential to the job. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality system, manufacturing, inspection and test processes, and product characteristics comply with both customer requirements and governmental regulations. The engineer will also be a key member of the QA team, providing feedback on quality issues and facilitating nonconforming material and corrective action activities. This position requires the employee to obtain various customer-required certifications. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and advance CPP quality systems, procedures, and practices Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and reports; basic knowledge of GD&T Communicate with customers to resolve/address quality system concerns and inquiries Use problem?solving tools and techniques to increase profitability Audit production lots to ensure adherence to established techniques and repeatability of results Participate in customer/external audits, including preparation, guidance, and closure Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts Enforce quality in the casting manufacturing process; continuously improve processes to meet or exceed customer expectations Identify process yield issues using statistical, mathematical, DOE, Six Sigma, and other data?analysis techniques Generate quality shipment documentation, certificates of conformance, and other audit checklists Drive closure of preventive/corrective actions, customer returns, and inquiries Manage resolution of non?conforming material/processes Review contracts in adherence with CPP standards and practices Coordinate with engineering for qualification documentation and data submittal packages Collaborate with CPP NDT Level III personnel to ensure product compliance Develop internal job instructions and support Gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, correlation, and other statistical activities Document quality work procedures and processes Work closely with other departments to achieve organizational objectives Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and professional communication Apply basic engineering skills to analyze problems and derive sound conclusions Communicate verbally and in writing with customers and engineering groups Be familiar with FMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP documentation Qualifications Bachelors degree from a four?year college or university in Engineering or a related field, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Comprehensive knowledge of quality and quality systems such as AS9100 or NADCAP 2?5 years of work experience in a foundry or related field Familiarity with the investment casting industry and related processes is desirable Familiarity with FMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP documentation Strong communication skills, good PC skills, and program management abilities Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is a plus Ability to work independently with minimal direction The candidate must be able to travel periodically to other CPP facilities, customers, and vendors to provide problem?solving and technical/audit support.
