Quality Assurance Engineer

Consolidated Precision Products (CPP Cudahy) is a high alloy sand casting foundry that has been in operations for over 50 years. Quality Engineer The Quality Engineer will be working cooperatively in a team environment to support development of robust manufacturing processes and quality systems to support the companys growth in the industrial and aerospace casting markets. Quality system and problem?solving skills are essential. The engineer will ensure the quality system, manufacturing, inspection and test processes, and product characteristics comply with customer requirements and governmental regulations. They will be a key member of the QA team, providing feedback on quality issues and facilitating nonconforming material and corrective action activities. This role requires various customer?required certifications. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and advance CPP quality systems, procedures, and practices Interpret customer drawings, specifications, reports, and basic GD&T knowledge Communicate with customers to resolve/address quality system concerns/inquiries Use problem?solving tools and techniques to increase profitability Audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and repeatability of results Participate during customer/external audits including preparation, guidance, and closure Participate in continuous improvement efforts Enforce quality in casting manufacturing processes. Continuously improve process/product to meet or exceed customer expectations Identify process yield issues using data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables not maintained in a controlled fashion Generate quality shipment documentation including certificates of conformance and other audit checklists Drive closure of preventative/corrective actions, customer returns/inquiries Resolve nonconforming material/processes Review contracts in adherence with CPP standards and practices Coordinate with engineering for qualification documentation and data submittal packages Interact with CPP NDT Level III personnel to ensure product compliance Develop internal job instructions with good written communication skills Support Gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, correlation and other statistical activities Document quality work procedures and processes Work closely with other departments to achieve organizational objectives Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communication Utilize basic engineering skills to approach problems analytically and derive sound conclusions Communicate verbally with customers and engineering groups Be familiar with FMEA, Control Plan and PPAP documentation The candidate must be able to travel periodically to other CPP facilities, customers, and vendors to provide problem?solving and technical/audit support. Qualifications Bachelors degree from a four?year college or university in Engineering or a related field; or equivalently, 12 years of related experience and/or training Comprehensive knowledge of quality and quality systems such as AS9100 or NADCAP 25 years of work experience in a foundry or related field Familiarity with the investment casting industry and related processes is desirable Familiar with FMEA, Control Plan and PPAP documentation Strong communication skills, good PC skills, and program management skills Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is a plus Ability to work independently with minimal direction Sponsorship is not available for this role.
