Position Title: Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux), Senior Location: Dahlgren, VA Clearance: ****This position requires an Active Secret Clearance**** This position is contingent upon contract award. Position Summary Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux), Senior to support enterprise system administration activities within a structured Navy IT environment. This role provides advanced administration of Linux-based systems, supports configuration and lifecycle tasks, manages security compliance activities, and contributes to system reliability and performance. The ideal candidate brings deep technical experience with Linux environments, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to operate independently while supporting mission-focused IT operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform advanced system administration of Unix/Linux environments, including configuration, updates, and system optimization. Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of system software, applications, and core services. Implement and maintain system security baselines, patches, and compliance requirements using approved tools and procedures. Monitor system performance, identify issues, and recommend improvements to enhance stability and efficiency. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across supported systems. Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and administrative tasks. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and coordinate with team members and stakeholders to ensure timely resolution. Support automation initiatives using scripting or configuration management tools to improve consistency and reduce manual tasks. Education, Certification & Experience Requirements Education Required Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Preferred). Certification Required Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret or higher. IAT III certification in accordance with DoD 8570 requirements. Experience Required Six (6) years of experience performing system administration on Unix/Linux platforms in enterprise, Federal, or DoD environments. Experience supporting system security, configuration management, system installation, patching, and troubleshooting in multi-system environments. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge Knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration practices demonstrated through consistent and accurate configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems. Knowledge of system security, patching, and baseline compliance shown through adherence to security requirements and successful implementation of updates. Skills Skill in diagnosing complex system issues evaluated through quality reviews, reduction of recurring system problems, and efficiency of implemented solutions. Skill in maintaining clear system documentation demonstrated through organized, accurate, and up-to-date administrative procedures and configuration records. Abilities Ability to manage system administration tasks and deadlines, measurable by timely and complete execution of assigned system updates, configurations, and support requests. Ability to follow structured procedures and maintain stable system environments, measurable through periodic configuration reviews and adherence to administrative guidelines. Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands This position is performed in a professional environment, remote/home office setting, or on-site government facility, as required by the contract. Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, during normally scheduled business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work required to meet critical deadlines. Work involves extensive computer and secure network use, including periods of prolonged sitting, data entry, and screen time. The role requires working independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating virtually or in person with CCS teams, subcontractors, and government stakeholders.
