We’re searching for an outstanding candidate to join our team as a Director/Lead Teacher for our Before and/or After School program at Woestina Elementary in Rotterdam Junction, NY. This versatile role mainly involves assisting with curriculum delivery in the Before and/or After School classrooms, along with handling key administrative tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the center. WORK HOURS: 7:00 AM 8:30 AM and 1:45 PM 5:00 PM HOURLY PAY: $18.00 $20.00 EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to ensure effective implementation of curriculum, creating a supportive and enriching environment for children. Administrative Support: Manage planning, organizing, and overseeing childcare services. Exercise independent decision-making in areas like budgeting, policy enforcement, staff training, and supervision. DIRECTOR DUTIES: Community Outreach: Partner with marketing to promote the center through open houses, events, and community engagement to increase enrollment. Compliance Management: Oversee operations in alignment with Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Day Care regulations, maintaining positive relationships with local licensors. Record Maintenance: Ensure student records are complete, accurate, and compliant with OCFS guidelines. Facility Coordination: Manage supplies and equipment following ECERS standards to maintain a safe, developmentally appropriate environment. Staff Development: Oversee all staff training and professional development to maintain a highly qualified team. Communication: Use HR and Registration platforms effectively and maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and caregivers. Parent Interaction: Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences twice yearly, providing support and guidance to both staff and parents. LEAD TEACHER DUTIES: Lesson Planning: Create and carry out weekly lesson plans using the Creative Curriculum that promote age-appropriate development across all domains. Safety Management: Ensure children’s safety by following ECERS/ITERS standards to maintain a secure and caring environment. Parent Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents/caregivers through the Playground App, email, and in-person meetings. Team Collaboration: Keep assistants informed on classroom activities and provide ongoing training and support to ensure consistent program delivery. Professional Growth: Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities through Healthy Kids to support your continuous development. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify as a Director, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: Bachelor’s Degree (including or plus 12 credits in early childhood or related field), with 1 year full-time teaching and 1 year supervisory experience. New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential, with 1 year full-time teaching and 1 year supervisory experience. Associate’s Degree in early childhood or related field, with a study plan leading to a bachelor’s or administrator credential, plus 2 years teaching and 2 years supervising experience. Child Development Associate Credential or similar, with a study plan toward a bachelor’s or administrator credential, plus 2 years teaching and 2 years supervising experience. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Medically cleared and free of communicable diseases, including TB. Warm, approachable, reliable, and professional with excellent interpersonal skills. Strong leadership skills and dedication to quality childcare. Physically able to perform tasks such as bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and standing for long periods as required.
