The right Construction Technician I checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.This role exists to perform tasks that require physical labor on construction sites and to assist construction craft workers, such as electricians and carpenters, with a variety of basic tasks.Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.Summary of Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesConstruct, modify, and repair structural systems comprised of, but no limited to, framing, sheathing, roofing, exterior siding, and basic mensuration skills as they pertain to carpentry workLoad, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specificationsLoad or unload building materials to be used in constructionOperate or tend equipment and machines used in constructionFollow construction plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workersIdentify and use basic construction materialsClean and prepare project sites by removing debris and possible hazardsComplete duties in compliance with local and state laws and OSHA regulationsAble to work overtime as needed per management as well as off hours work including Late nights, overnight & Early morning hoursManagement reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any timeEducation and Experience RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years oldExperience that demonstrates successful execution of similar duties and responsibilities in a commercial/industrial environmentAt least 6 months of experience in the construction trade requiredMust have a motor vehicle license and state required auto insuranceMust be able to pass a background check and drug screenKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAble to make a friendly impression when speaking to or corresponding with guests, vendors, and other employeesMust reflect Dollywood's image by being genuinely friendly and caring and by taking pride in workMust be self-motivated and disciplinedMust be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basisMust maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged informationMust be committed to continuous improvementMust have professional appearance with good personal hygieneMust promote and support a "team" work environment by cooperating and helping co-workersMust be productive in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentMust maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidaysMust be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelinesMust be able to utilize effective communication, problem solving, conflict management and interpersonal skillsMust show appreciation of othersAble to get along with other employees to work out problems and resolve conflictsAble to comprehend instructions and retain informationAble to perform duties consistent with creating a safe and secure environment for hosts and guestsAble to be flexible to handle frequent changes in prioritiesAble to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracyAble to communicate effectively using standard English grammar and punctuationAble to tolerate various temperatures while working indoors and outdoorsAble to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid driver's license and insuranceAble to meet the physical demands of the jobAble to work outdoorsAble to balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouchAble to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 50 lbs) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 100 pounds)Able to work at heights up to and in excess of 150ftAble to work in confined spacesAble to operate/drive a motor vehicleAble to tolerate approved exposure levels to various chemicals found in cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, and lubricantsAble to use hand tools, power tools and equipment such as air compressor, skill saw, electric drill, impact wrench, hand wrenches, shovel, etcThe Dollywood Company is an equal opportunity employer.
