We have a culture of growth and achievement powered by innovation, supported by purpose and joy.Big-D Mission Critical is looking for a dynamic Preconstruction Manager to join the growing team in Salt Lake City, UT.The Preconstruction Manager holds a critical leadership position, overseeing and managing Mission Critical projects, with a specific focus on data centers.Experience/Training:* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or related field) preferred.* 8+ years working in the preconstruction process as a Sr. Estimator, Chief Estimator, or Project ManagerCritical Skills:Able to provide coaching with team members day to dayAbility to focus on preconstruction processes and proceduresAbility to understand and influence design and the design scheduleAbility to present to large and small groups, in-person and virtuallyGreat at building and maintaining relationships with clients and team membersAbility to communicate at a high levelGood time management skills and excellent attention to detailDesign Management SkillsUnderstanding of Construction Cost and is aware of current market conditionsExcellent computer skills, especially with Estimating softwareIn-depth knowledge of construction principles/practicesUnderstands all aspects of contracts, purchase orders, insurance, bonding and contractual risksDuties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)Oversees the estimating process.Sets the project up for overall success.Proves value analysis solutions (systems options), including cost/schedule impactsEstablishes and maintains strong relationships with the owner, designer, and subcontractorsIs the lead contact with client and architectDevelops and maintains pre-construction scheduleEnsures a smooth transition from pre-construction to constructionServes as the liaison between estimators and ownersDevelops strong and long-lasting relationships with clients by understanding what is important to themMarkets the company to the owner and architectural team; engages the Business Development Department in pursuing future opportunitiesRegular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assignedAdditional Tasks:Provides estimating and pricing on an assigned or multiple projects.Submits requests to architects and /or owners to obtain clarifications and answers to questions.Presents estimates to the owner in a clean and clear format.Provides all estimate breakouts required by the bid documents, the client, or Big-D personnel.Estimates complete concrete general requirements or conditions, including demolition, earthwork, crane needs, ready-mix adjustments, steel embeds and rough carpentry.Reviews and prices all items before others see it.Establishes a rough draft schedule of the project in order to develop estimate pricing, general conditions, and concrete general requirement.Provides estimate for project general conditions, as requested.Sets up the recap on the project, as requested.Reviews established budget estimate and bid and assists the project manager and job cost accountant with setting up the proper codes and organization of the job cost report.Transmits to the owners and architects the appropriate estimate summaries, recapitulations, and general conditions, etc., in a PDF format using Bluebeam.Benefits:Free Medical & Dental Insurance premiumsHSA (Health Savings Account) with employer contribution401k with MatchLong-Term & Short-Term DisabilityLife InsuranceSupplemental BenefitsPTO & Paid HolidaysVehicle AllowanceAdditional Job Information:Interested applicants must submit their resume for consideration using our applicant tracking system.
