The Aspen School District Middle School Seeks a Library ParaprofessionalPosition Title: Library Paraprofessional IDepartment: Aspen Middle SchoolReports to: Aspen Middle School PrincipalClassification: Classified Full-time Non-Exempt/HourlyContract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year)Compensation: $23.67 - $29.42 depending on experienceSY 2025-26 Library Paraprofessional I Salary SchedulePosition SummaryThe Library Paraprofessional works in the school library to support students and staff with informational resources. This position requires the ability to support educational programming as well as advanced communication and collaboration skills.Position ResponsibilitiesLibrary Paraprofessional Responsibilities: Collaborates and consults with the librarian, classroom teachers to plan, organize, and implement specific activities/programs. Follows daily schedule and school procedures, as well as implements student programming, as directed by the librarian and administrators. Supports digital citizenship /media literacy skills to help students utilize information technology in order to responsibly engage in their global community Inspires and supports the reading lives of both students and teachers Encourages and facilitates students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic real-world problem-solving Monitors student behavior in the library, intervening when appropriate and supporting the students. Maintains accurate records for check out of books and other library resources. Assists with the management and distribution of the school's Chromebook inventory Supports the duties of volunteers in the library, including the Book Fair Shares with the learning community collaboratively developed and up-to-date policies concerning materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use Participates in professional development/continuing education programs as required/recommended by the school administrator Performs other related duties as assigned or requested Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Professional communication norms and standards (written and oral) Modern office procedures and methods Principles and procedures of record-keeping Microsoft Office and/or the Google Suite of office software Working knowledge of general office and library equipment, including, but not limited to, computers (including software and databases), printers, copiers, telephones and media Ability to: Demonstrate responsibility and consistency of attendance required for work with students Work with efficiency with attention to detail Demonstrate flexibility for the environment that may require a change of schedule and/or student activities Maintain confidentiality of information Work cooperatively with administrators and staff Observe all district policies and procedures Observe all general safety rules, carefully observing correct lifting procedures Supervise students Communicate clearly and concisely in English both orally and in writing Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Current CPR/First Aid certificate (may be obtained through the school after hiring) Crisis intervention training annually Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Spanish bilingual Work Environment Classroom and library settings Office environment; exposure to computer screens and books Mostly clean and comfortable surroundings Exposure to noise and bodily fluids Essential Physical Requirements Physical: Reaching, walking, standing, sitting, typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, seeing, and hearing.
