Related job titles include: Diesel Technician, Fleet Mechanic, Reefer Mechanic, or Trailer Mechanic. Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM Key Responsibilities: Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.). Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations. Mentor junior maintenance staff. Receive road calls, coordinate with external vendors, and collaborate with business partners for effective solutions. Document repairs and parts usage using fleet maintenance software. Ensure a tidy and safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines. Complete other duties as assigned by management. Work Environment: This position is onsite at the US Foods maintenance facility. Minimum Qualifications: 5 years of proven experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic. Ability to diagnose issues using fleet maintenance software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must provide own hand tools. Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations related to shop and fleet safety. Capability to interpret technical manuals. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Capacity to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic setting with minimal supervision. Proficient computer skills. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certifications/Training: Brake certification. Licenses: Valid driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with JPRO software. Welding skills. Familiarity with electrical schematics. Basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Leadership experience. Valid Class A CDL and DOT certification. EPA 608 certification (Type 2 or Universal).
