Our mission is to offer exceptional educational activities and to advance research in the anatomical sciences and allied fields.Research strengths in the Center for Anatomical Sciences include biological anthropology, evolutionary biology, forensic sciences, biomechanics/functional morphology, and histology. The Center encompasses 8,000-square-feet of anatomy laboratories that support anatomical education, research, and outreach. The Center also houses dedicated research laboratories equipped for medical imaging analysis/morphometrics, forensic anthropology, thermoregulatory studies (environmental chamber), histology, and paleontological fossil preparation.Center for Anatomical Sciences teaches dissection and prosection-based anatomy courses to Medical, Physical Therapy, Physician's Assistant, and Master of Medical Science students. The Center is also home to the Structural Anatomy and Rehabilitation Sciences (STARS) PhD program that prepares graduate students to join the workforce as researchers and anatomy educators.The Center also supports numerous K-12 science outreach programs, offering summer science camps, campus tours, and in-school events that introduce students to anatomy and its relationship to medical education.Position OverviewThe Center for Anatomical Sciences in the Department of Physiology and Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health) in Fort Worth, TX invites applications for two (2) tenure-track or tenured faculty positions to join our growing team of interdisciplinary faculty in the anatomical sciences. We seek two outstanding, broadly-trained anatomists whose research programs will complement our existing strengths in biological anthropology, evolutionary biology, forensic sciences, biomechanics/functional morphology, and histology. While the research area is open, applicants with programs in postcranial biomechanics are particularly encouraged to apply. Research laboratory space and competitive start-up funds are available.The Center encompasses 8,000-square-feet of anatomy laboratories that support anatomical education, research, and outreach. Teaching experience in neuroanatomy, histology, and/or embryology is desirable but not required. Faculty may additionally develop graduate-level elective courses in their area of expertise. The hires will also be expected to mentor anatomy graduate students (MS, PhD).The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026 (or earlier).Minimum QualificationsPhD or equivalent degreeKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally Knowledge of cadaver based laboratory instruction Preferred QualificationsSuccessful applicants will have: An active record of research and scholarship. Demonstrate a history or the potential of obtaining external funding. Be able to create research opportunities for anatomy graduate (MS/PhD) students. Possess previous experience teaching dissection-based human gross anatomy. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026 (or earlier). Applicants will ideally have a PhD or equivalent degree in hand by this date but exceptional ABD candidates will be considered.
