Job Description: The incumbent provides support to the Program Executive Officer for Aircraft Carriers (PEO CVN) in the areas of Public and Congressional Affairs. PEO CVN provides full lifecycle acquisition support to the nation's fleet of aircraft carriers. The command is located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC.In this role, the selectee will:Serve as a liaison between PEO CVN and media representatives and community groups. Coordinate activities and events with other community relations officers, public affair officials, and local business representatives for outreach efforts. Serve as the action officer for planning and execution of local engagement and outreach efforts Create / edit written products that meet the information and communication needs of the PEO and its audiences. Prepare and release written information to the public and industry on the PEO's responsibilities and achievements, particularly in support of PEO CVN ceremonies and events. Provide support in coordinating, monitoring and gathering information, preparing responses, reviewing publications, maintaining databases, drafting public affairs articles, executing a communication plan, assisting with developing and supporting multimedia presentations, and compiling metrics. Coordinate responses to Congressional inquiries Assist in the drafting of prepared testimony Assist in the development of annual briefings to Congressional staff. Attend public committee hearings of interest to PEO Carriers; document key takeaways for PEO leadership. Analyze Congressional language for its impact on the PEO Carriers' portfolio. Maintain trackers to document the authorization and appropriation processes and budget reconciliation Assist in the collection of information to support audits conducted by the General Accountability Office (GAO) Required Skills and Experiences: Minimum: 5+ years experience providing Congressional affairs support for a Government organization, or 5+ years experience as Congressional staff in support of Defense-related issues, Preferred: Experience supporting a DoD / Navy ACAT-I program Experience as staff at the Office of Legislative Affairs or similar command responsible for Congressional liaison.
