Coach - 8th Grade Boys Basketball

Position: Head Coach-Mid SchoolReports to: Program Head Coach (HS)Supervises: Assistant coaches (mid school)Work Site: Assigned school/programJob Goal:The Coach must demonstrate leadership in player and staff development, integrity,sportsmanship, and character development. Qualified candidates should possessstrong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptionalknowledge of the skills and strategies of their sport as it pertains to the policies of NewMexico Activities Association (NMAA).General Duties and Responsibilities:a. Knowledge in implementing a written team rules which includes a philosophystatement and discusses acceptable player behavior, practice procedures,substance abuse policies and other guidelines that relate to programmanagement. Conduct a pre-season meeting with parents and players to sharethese policies and procedures.b. Have a thorough knowledge of all District and the NMAA Policies and beresponsible for their implementation.c. Understand and follow the proper administrative line of command and refer allrequests or grievances through proper channels.d. Continue professional growth by attending team practices and meeting with thehigh school head coach.e. Conduct oneself as a positive role model.f. Assist the high school head coach in implementing all team rules (to verticallyalign with high school program).g. Update roster inside RankOne.h. Report all rule violations or suspected violations to the District Athletic Director.i. Consult with the program head coach, or the district athletic director, in matters ofpurchasing equipment, scheduling, and coaching assignments.j. Work to develop a positive athlete-coach relationship.k. Coaches must ensure that all athletes participating in their sport are academicallyeligible. This includes checking grades before the start of the season and duringthe season as well. Every student athlete must remain eligible according toNMAA policies.
