Freelance Trademark Attorney

Remote or in-person acceptable We're looking to hire an outside freelance lawyer to work with us on a LONG-TERM, ongoing basis for a growing business-minded law firm. You may be asked to work on a variety of business and intellectual property-related projects, including trademark filings and office actions, drafting and reviewing documents and agreements, and general assistance with managing files to completion. REQUIREMENTS: • Must be a Member in good standing of a state bar association in the United States (Arizona preferred) • Minimum of 2 years in practice in trademark law • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Proven ability to meet deadlines and be well-organized • Superior legal writing and research skills • Self-starter and able to work independently • Strong communication skills • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while staying organized • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative • Comfortable with technology and able to work remotely or in an office, if applicable JOB TYPE: • Freelance • Compensation on an hourly basis. • Autonomy in the service of a file • Flexible working hours and work-life balance • 100% remote – no presence at office required If you're interested in applying, please provide a résumé and writing sample as well as a short cover letter detailing WHY you're qualified for this ongoing job. Also, in your cover letter, answer this question: 2 + 2 = Looking to hire ASAP Apply now Responsibilities: • Conduct trademark clearance research and write memos on the potential strength of a trademark application • Draft and file trademark registrations and renewals • Drafting response to USPTO Office Actions • Communicating with the firm and its clients to obtain market information and provide strategies to improve the strength of the applications, and also enforceability Qualifications: • Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam • Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school • Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm working on trademarks Compensation: $65 - $90 hourly• Conduct trademark clearance research and write memos on the potential strength of a trademark application • Draft and file trademark registrations and renewals • Drafting response to USPTO Office Actions • Communicating with the firm and its clients to obtain market information and provide strategies to improve the strength of the applications, and also enforceability
