Works directly with students assisting in one-on-onesmall group, and classroom settings. Monitors, tracks, and evaluates the learningand progress of participants to promote student success. Supports the Program'sobjectives and initiatives as directed. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSConduct one-on-one and small group tutoring in Math, Science, or related subjects virtually or in-person Diagnoses student tutorial needs and evaluates participant progress resulting from tutoring Assists in the development of educational action plansCommunicates student barriers and challenges with the TRIO Student Support Services Program staffConducts educational workshops Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and tutoring sessionsWorks with and/or demonstrates various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other materials or delivery systems used in an instructional programFacilitates the learning process by conducting workshops and presentations for students enrolled in high-risk coursesMeets with faculty regarding student progress and course content/materials, as neededAssists in the recruitment and retention of program students Performs other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGBachelor's Degree in Math or a related fieldMinimum of two years of experience teaching or tutoring Math and Science to academically underprepared studentsDemonstrated previous success in motivating and encouraging studentsDemonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or teamDemonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situationsKNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIESPossess basic knowledge of fundamental Mathematic/English/Science concepts with the ability to apply in various situationsDemonstrated knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practicesPossess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to foster a team environment and work collaborativelyDemonstrated commitment to providing exemplary customer servicePossess intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to work accurately with great attention to detailAbility to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines in a dynamic environmentAbility to work in a fast paced and high volume and service environmentPossess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationshipsAbility to utilize critical thinking to identify and implement efficiencies within daily operationsPossess knowledge and ability to effectively and appropriately interact with students with varying linguistic and cultural backgrounds at the post-secondary levelPossess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of students and the communityCOMPETENCIESCRITICALCOMPETENCIESService FocusCommunicationAdaptabilityVERYIMPORTANT COMPETENCIESTime UtilizationContinuous ImprovementIMPORTANTCOMPETENCIESCollaborationQuality of WorkPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's DegreeDemonstrated teaching experienceDemonstrated experience working or participating in TRIO or related programsPossess strong competency with Microsoft OfficeDemonstrated experience with the implementation of supplemental instruction or collaborative learning groupsDemonstrated experience with student tracking databases (such as BANNER, BLUMEN, etc.)PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS(The demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksiteTarget Starting Salary Range: $42,000 to $46,000The final offer for the successful candidateis targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment ofinternal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate'squalifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred jobrequirement(s). Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure.
