The Assistant Principal at Highland Primary School supports the comprehensive administration of a Pre-K through 2nd grade building. The individual in this role collaborates with the principal, staff, students, and families to promote a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Responsibilities include instructional leadership, staff supervision and evaluation, student support, and the implementation of school and district initiatives.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as a member of the building and district administrative team to ensure alignment with district goals, policies, and procedures.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of school improvement plans with an emphasis on early learning, foundational literacy, and student success.
- Assist in the supervision and evaluation of certified and non-certified personnel, providing coaching and feedback to promote high-quality instruction and a positive school climate.
- Assist in administering and maintaining an effective, developmentally appropriate school-wide discipline system that supports student safety, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior.
- Support the coordination and ongoing effectiveness of the school's reading and early literacy programs, including assessments and interventions.
- Plan, organize, and supervise student activities, events, and family engagement opportunities to enhance the overall school experience.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Exhibit knowledge of and support best practices in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and instructional leadership within an early childhood and primary school context.
- Serve on building and district committees as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
- Valid administrative license (Type 75 or state equivalent).
- Successful teaching and/or administrative experience, preferably in early childhood or primary education.
- Knowledge of early learning standards, primary-level curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
