Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with approved menus and dietary guidelines for young children.
  • Plan menus that are balanced, appealing, and meet nutritional standards while accommodating special dietary requirements.
  • Handle all aspects of food preparation, including chopping, mixing, cooking, and plating with precision and care.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene by following proper food handling procedures and sanitation protocols.
  • Assist with food service operations by serving meals efficiently and courteously to children in a timely manner.
  • Manage kitchen inventory by ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure meal times are organized smoothly and contribute to a positive dining experience for children.
  • Adhere to all health regulations and safety standards related to food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Support catering or special event meal preparations as needed within the center's activities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food handling, safety checks, and inventory management.

Skills

  • Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within childcare or similar settings.
  • Strong background in menu planning, meal preparation, and food service operations.
  • Extensive culinary experience with skills in cooking, food handling, knife techniques, and food safety practices.
  • Familiarity with the food industry standards related to hygiene, sanitation, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high quality standards suitable for young children's nutritional needs.
  • Experience in catering or large-scale food service environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing kitchen inventory and adhering to schedules.
