We're turning today's impossible into tomorrow's standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.   Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale..The RoleAs a member of the Connected Vehicle Experience Research Lab, you will be working with the Biosensing, Information Display, & Simulation group.  You will be applying your expertise in autonomous vehicles, driving simulators, human factors, and data science for developing innovative approaches to immersive user studies for automated driving-enabled vehicles.  As a researcher in this group, you will implement your solutions in driving simulators and publish your research findings in peer-reviewed journals to extend the reach of General Motors' development of next-generation technology. This will also include interfacing with universities, research institutes, and other advanced technology laboratories to build a network for amplifying your research.What You'll DoDevelop immersive user experience simulation solutions for automated driving-enabled vehicles and robotic systemsCreate tools to aid in the development or deployment of human-vehicle interface solutionsConduct user studies to enable evidence-based decisions about in-vehicle interfacesParticipate in government-funded research work, such as the NASA Lunar Terrain VehicleDocument your research through internal and external publicationsFacilitate technology transfer via active participation in cross-functional teamsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)U.S. citizenship required pursuant to government contract.MS Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics-related fieldResearch experience in at least one of the following areas:  Autonomous Vehicle Technology, Connected Vehicles, Advanced Wireless Technology, Robotics, Zero Barrier Mobility/Accessibility, User Experience, Displays, HMI, Simulation, or other related areasStrong theoretical, experimental or software programming skillsWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)PhD in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics-related fieldHands-on experience building and using real-time simulators to develop autonomous systems and HMIsFamiliarity with ROS or ROS 2 robotics frameworkHands-on experience with CAN bus communicationExperience with data analysis or AI/Machine Learning for engineering applications. Hands-on experience running user studies in a driving simulatorDemonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizationsThis position requires eligibility to access classified information at the Confidential U.S. Security Clearance level for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
