Overview:

Mercy is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Director of Physician Residency, guiding the growth and excellence of our graduate medical education programs. This role oversees residency and student experiences across our hospitals and clinics, including medical students, interns, and other clinical learners. The Director will lead strategic partnerships with top academic institutions, support healthcare career initiatives in Mercy communities, and help launch new accredited programs. Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, education, public health, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in graduate medical education, physician management, or academic program oversight.
  • Proven success in building partnerships across clinical and academic settings.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Independent decision-making with sound judgment and escalation awareness.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Self-motivated team leader with experience mentoring and motivating staff.
  • Ability to interpret scientific literature, technical reports, and regulatory documents.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive leadership experience in medical education or physician program development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Continuing Medical Education (CME) standards, coordination of medical student rotations, and collaboration with preceptors, academic institutions, and community-based organizations.
