Head of Estimation
to lead their growing preconstruction and estimating division.

About the Role

As the
Head of Estimation
, you'll oversee the full estimating function — from conceptual budgeting to final bid submission — ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and consistency across all mechanical bids. You'll collaborate closely with executive leadership, project managers, and clients to drive profitable growth and support the company's expanding Southeast operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical estimators and preconstruction professionals.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and bid documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Develop and maintain estimating standards, databases, and best practices.
  • Partner with business development and operations to evaluate project opportunities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and value engineering during the bid phase.
  • Oversee final pricing, proposal preparation, and presentation to clients.
  • Stay current with market pricing, labor rates, and material trends.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical estimating experience (HVAC, plumbing, or piping).
  • Proven experience leading an estimating or preconstruction department.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction practices.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, QuoteSoft, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
