Job Summary
Addison Smith Mechanical Contractors is seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Manager to lead our plumbing operations supporting industrial/commercial projects. This leadership role oversees all phases of commercial plumbing projects—from planning through completion—ensuring quality workmanship, code compliance, and adherence to budget and schedule.
The Commercial Plumbing Manager provides direct leadership to plumbing supervisors, foremen, and field crews while coordinating closely with project management, estimating, and safety teams. This position is responsible for workforce planning, material management, quality control, and the technical oversight of all commercial plumbing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all phases of commercial plumbing projects, including installation, inspection, quality control, and project closeout.
- Supervise and support plumbing foremen, journeymen, and apprentices to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to company standards.
- Review drawings, submittals, and specifications to ensure compliance with design intent and applicable plumbing codes.
- Coordinate manpower scheduling, materials procurement, and equipment needs with project managers and superintendents.
- Provide technical guidance on complex systems, installations, and code requirements.
- Oversee layout, piping, and fixture installations for large commercial facilities including schools, hospitals, industrial plants, and office buildings.
- Conduct job site visits to monitor progress, safety compliance, and workmanship quality.
- Collaborate with estimating teams on upcoming bids, project pricing, and value engineering.
- Ensure installations meet Addison Smith's standards for quality, safety, and productivity.
- Maintain accurate labor tracking, cost reporting, and productivity documentation.
- Resolve field conflicts and coordinate with other trades to maintain project schedules.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
- Support company goals related to operational excellence, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, codes, and installation practices.
- Strong understanding of hydronic systems, sanitary waste/vent systems, and domestic water distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in project management and construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office).
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Solid understanding of OSHA standards, job site safety, and risk management practices.
- Ability to mentor, motivate, and hold teams accountable for performance and safety.
Education & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Plumbing Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive commercial plumbing experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven track record managing multiple large-scale commercial plumbing projects simultaneously.
Certifications & Licenses
Required:
- Georgia: State license issued by the Georgia State Construction Industry Licensing Board – Journeyman and/or Master Plumber.
- Alabama: Alabama Master Plumber License required to supervise or contract plumbing work, issued by the Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90, $120,000.00 per year
