The Senior Payroll Specialist role will be central to our finance team, supporting our Accounting Manager in delivering trusted and accurate payroll, financial statements, and reporting.


WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING INVOLVED IN:
The role will be heavily involved in the month-end close process for multiple entities. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting internal stakeholders with payroll-related inquiries.


As we are still a small team, you can expect to get involved in many aspects of the finance function; however, your key responsibilities will include:

Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for employees across multiple departments and entities

Review and verify timesheets, wage calculations, and deductions

Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity in HRIS and payroll systems

Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management and finance teams

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations

Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax forms

Assist with year-end processes including W-2 and 1099 preparation

Collaborate with HR and Finance on benefits, compensation, and audits
Support system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements

WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday)

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and tax laws

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification

  • Experience with HRIS systems and Excel reporting

  • All of our roles will have a small assessment stage. This may be in-person, a take-home assessment, or additional video calls. Length varies, but we're mindful of your time and keep it as simple as possible
