As we continue to grow, we're seeking an experienced PR & Media Relations Manager to support a portfolio of clients, build relationships with journalists, secure impactful media coverage, and help drive measurable business outcomes. The role will report to the Director of Communications & Media Relations. This will be a highly visible role among C-level executives and brand-name clients. An ideal candidate is a self-starter who's passionate about news trends and the opportunity to work directly with top-tier media to secure news coverage. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and should be a strong project manager who can handle shifting timelines and priorities on the fly. A background in journalism and a working knowledge of PR media tools (MuckRack, Cision, Meltwater) are a plus.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

What You'll Do:
- Pitch the press and build strong, ongoing relationships with journalists
for client campaigns and announcements
- Secure regular media coverage by being proactive, persistent, creative, and strategic
- Collaborate with teammates and clients to develop, execute, and monitor strategic communications initiatives
- Serve as a subject matter expert on media relations efforts, providing strategic guidance on media relations strategies and tactics across MB's client roster
- Develop and create media materials, such as PR plans, press releases, pitches, briefing docs, blogs, and social media copy
- Continuously iterate and pivot to come up with creative solutions to help clients secure media coverage
- Support with prepping and staffing corporate executives for media interviews both virtually and in person on occasion
- Analyze and report on media coverage and PR campaigns
- Conduct competitive media audits and market research; help analyze media trends and narratives and proactively flag new press opportunities for clients
- Write, proofread, and edit content for clients and internal stakeholders
- Manage conference and award applications for clients and MB
Basic qualifications for this role:
- 5+ years of experience in PR, communications or journalism
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interest in media relations and previous experience owning and developing media relationships
- Experience preparing and staffing spokespeople for media interviews
- Excellent knowledge of Google suite (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc)
- Working knowledge of media database and analytics tools such as Muck Rack, Cision or Meltwater
- A passion for storytelling, data-driven narratives, and uncovering strong angles
- A proactive mindset and eagerness to experiment, iterate, and find creative solutions
- Collaborative, low-ego, team-first mindset
- Skilled in writing and editing content with an attention to detail
- Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills
- Passion for the communications industry and its best practices
- Available to travel to Seattle to meet with the team in person. Travel timing to be agreed upon by MB and the employee, all travel expenses will be covered by MB.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation range for the role:
$80,000-$110,000 a year depending on experience and location, and eligible for a performance-based bonus.
