Supervises: Pro Shop Staff
Position Summary
The Pro Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the Westwood Country Club Racquets Pro Shop. This includes managing staff, merchandise, inventory control, court reservations, and overall member service. The Pro Shop Manager plays a vital role in ensuring a welcoming, professional, and efficient experience for members and guests. This position works in close coordination with the Director of Racquets and the racquets professional team to support programming, events, and member satisfaction.
Operations & Retail Leadership
- Lead daily pro-shop operations, including opening/closing, merchandising, and transaction management.
- Manage retail sales of apparel, shoes, racquets, accessories, and other related products.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels; place orders, receive shipments, manage invoicing, and process returns.
- Assist with month-end inventory and ordering supplies as assigned.
- Monitor sales performance and implement seasonal merchandise rotations and visual displays to optimize revenue.
- Maintain vendor relationships and oversee new product launches.
- Ensure the pro shop is clean, organized, and consistently presents a high-end retail appearance.
Member Service & Communication
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all members and guests in line with Westwood standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for racquet sport inquiries, purchases, and general information.
- Assist members with program sign-ups, reservations, and retail needs.
- Proactively promote events, leagues, lessons, clinics, and retail items.
- Promote junior and adult programming by distributing information and encouraging member participation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and via email.
Administrative & Staff Management
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise pro shop staff.
- Monitor the court reservation system and communicate cancellations and changes promptly.
- Ensure accurate processing of transactions and reconciliation of daily sales.
- Assist with monthly inventory reports and restocking supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of Racquets on programming logistics, communication, and staffing support.
- Assist in organizing and executing racquets events, including check-ins and setup.

Required Skills & Competencies
- Previous retail management or hospitality experience preferred, ideally in a country club or racquets setting.
- Knowledge of racquet sports (tennis, pickleball, squash) and related merchandise is strongly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems, inventory tools, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, climb, and move for extended periods.
- Occasionally sit for extended periods while performing administrative duties.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs. occasionally; operate a 50 lb. dolly.
- Use standard office equipment, including computer, printer, and telephone.
- Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment; occasional outdoor work in variable conditions.
- Speak clearly and hear adequately to communicate in person and on the phone.
Work Environment
Noise level is typically moderate to high during peak hours and events. The pace is fast, particularly during weekends and holidays.
Appearance and Grooming
All employees must follow the Club's associate handbook for appearance and attire and adhere to the departmental uniform guidelines.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. Includes salary, benefits, and club privileges as determined by Westwood Country Club.
