The Lead Dental Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinical operations by supporting the dentist, mentoring the dental assistant team, and helping maintain a positive and efficient workflow throughout the office. This position is ideal for an experienced assistant looking to grow in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist dentist during a variety of treatment procedures (including restorative, surgical, and preventive)
  • Oversee and support the dental assistant team; help with training and development
  • Ensure compliance with all infection control and OSHA standards
  • Manage inventory and ordering of clinical supplies and equipment maintenance
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Document patient information accurately in the practice management system
  • Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients
  • Ensure all operatories are properly set up, cleaned, and stocked
  • Act as a liaison between clinical and front office teams

Qualifications:

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of dental assisting experience required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience a plus
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong knowledge of dental procedures, materials, and instruments
  • Proficient in using dental software (e.g., Dentrix Ascend)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced environment
