Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated technician with at least a BA or BS in a STEM discipline to join our research team. Responsibilities include maintaining zebrafish stocks, performing genotyping, generating new lines through microinjection, carrying out molecular biology tasks such as cloning, assisting postdocs and graduate students with experiments, and helping maintain advanced imaging systems. The analyst will also contribute to lab organization and safety compliance. This position provides opportunities to gain hands-on experience in developmental biology, molecular techniques, and imaging, while contributing to a collaborative research environment. Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (such as biology, chemistry, or a related field) is required. Demonstrate reliability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented research environment.

  • Preferred qualifications include prior laboratory experience in molecular biology, animal husbandry, or microscopy, though training will be provided.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of learning new techniques, while also showing adaptability, clear communication, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to research integrity, safety, and supporting the success of the lab is essential.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Foundational technical knowledge gained through a bachelor's degree in a STEM field, with the ability to apply and expand this knowledge in a research setting.
  • Key skills include attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and capacity to accurately follow experimental protocols.
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, animal care, or microscopy is preferred but not required, as training will be provided.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, adaptability to new methods, and the ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative.
  • Reliable, maintain accurate records, and uphold high standards of research integrity and laboratory safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain zebrafish animal stocks and facility operations.
  • Care for and monitor zebrafish health, set up and track genetic crosses, and perform genotyping to support ongoing research. This ensures reliable animal resources for experimental studies.
  • Assist with molecular biology experiments.
  • Perform cloning, DNA preparation, and other molecular tasks that enable the creation and analysis of genetic constructs used in developmental biology research.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and compliance.
  • Order supplies, manage inventory, and ensure lab spaces remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations to promote efficient and safe research operations.
  • Assist with imaging systems and data collection.
  • Help maintain advanced microscopy and imaging systems and support researchers in acquiring high-quality imaging data critical for experimental aims.
  • Provide research support to trainees.
  • Assist postdoctoral researchers and graduate students with experimental workflows, ensuring continuity of projects and contributing to a collaborative training environment.
