Application Engineer

We are seeking an Application Engineer to support customers in getting the most out of our sheet metal and structural steel processing solutions, including lasers, punches, press brakes, material handling systems, and system software. A key part of this role is helping customers apply and optimize Trumpf applications to improve efficiency and results.
Territory: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia
Travel: 50–70% (weekdays only, no weekends) when not at client sites doing paperwork from home or in the showroom
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with customers on-site to understand their processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide troubleshooting, training, and programming support-including Trumpf applications-to optimize machine performance and workflow.
Support customers after equipment installation and commissioning to ensure long-term success.
Deliver instruction on machine operation, applications, safety, and best practices.
Maintain accurate service reports and keep management informed of customer interactions.
Stay current on product knowledge, with a focus on Trumpf applications, through ongoing training.
Promote a positive customer experience by offering practical solutions and professional guidance.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor"s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in applications, equipment installation, field service, or related technical support. A blend of education and hands-on experience will also be considered.
Must have knowledge/experience with Trumpf machines (this is the majority of equipment serviced).
Solid understanding of CNC programming and general computer skills; ability to troubleshoot and provide programming support.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think analytically and provide practical solutions to customers.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities, with a professional demeanor and a focus on building lasting client relationships.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability and willingness to travel frequently to customer sites.
Must be located within a one-hour drive of Mooresville, NC.
A positive, team-oriented attitude with the flexibility to adapt to customer needs and new technologies.
Commitment to safety standards and adherence to both company and customer site regulations.
