Property Accountant - Commercial Real Estate

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Property Accountant to join our team in a full-time, in-person role. This position is the financial backbone of our commercial real estate operations, ensuring accuracy in all tenant and property-level financial records.

The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000.

The Core Responsibilities:

Tenant Accounts & Cash Management (Accounts Receivable)

  • Billing & Payment Processing: Preparation of accurate tenant invoices in accordance with lease terms and the proper application of incoming payments.
  • Delinquency Follow-Up: Monitor outstanding balances, produce and analyze AR aging reports, and directly manage follow-up communications to ensure timely collection of rent and other charges.

Reconciliation & General Ledger

  • Expense Management: Reconcile credit card expenditures against internal reports and accurately code expenses in QuickBooks across different classes. Assist with reconciliation bank accounts to maintain accurate financial records.

Payroll

  • Payroll Support: Assist in reviewing and monitoring employee hours for accuracy, adjusting as needed based on timesheet discrepancies or scheduling changes. Accurately log hours worked, process payroll via direct deposit or checks in a timely manner.

Qualifications We're Looking For

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in property accounting or Accounts Receivable is required, with prior experience in commercial real estate is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Must be highly proficient in QuickBooks and MS Excel.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of tenant billing, AR aging, account reconciliation principles, and the ability to read and interpret rent rolls.
  • Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is non-negotiable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective tenant relations.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
