Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine and possess the expertise to prepare high-quality sushi dishes in a fast-paced environment. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards. The Sushi Chef will play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring high standards of quality and taste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing recipes.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored, minimizing waste.
  • Assist in catering events as needed, providing sushi options for various occasions.
  • Utilize proper knife skills for slicing fish and preparing ingredients efficiently.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi-related ingredients and communicate needs to management.
  • Provide training and support to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in knife skills, particularly for fish preparation and presentation.
  • Experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant environments preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented kitchen setting.
  • Familiarity with catering services is a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Passion for continuous learning about Japanese cuisine and culinary techniques.
