How you'll make an impact

We are currently seeking an experienced Property and Casualty Underwriter to underwrite organizations that will become part of our religious captive and pool programs. In this role you will evaluate and price coverages across religious and niche P&C insurance programs. The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in underwriting, execute underwriting guidelines, possess excellent analytical and communication skills, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. The P&C Underwriter will report to the Underwriting Manager and be responsible for evaluating new and renewal business for religious institutions participating in captive and pooled programs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented insurance professional with a heart for serving mission-driven clients.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Underwriting Execution: Analyze applications, property schedules, and loss history to assess risk
  • Account Management: Develop tailored coverage terms and pricing within program guidelines
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with Program Directors, brokers, service teams, and reinsurers to deliver best-in-class risk programs
  • Data Management: Maintain complete underwriting files in RMIS platforms and ensure proper documentation
  • Program Development: Support enhancements to guidelines, endorsements, and submission requirements
  • Risk & Financial Management: Conduct regular portfolio reviews, analyze loss ratios, and implement risk mitigation and reinsurance strategies
  • Regulatory & Program Development: Research regulatory needs, manage captive and risk-sharing structures, and prepare submissions
  • Reinsurance & Market Relations: Join presentations with reinsurers and negotiate favorable terms by showcasing underwriting expertise
About You

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent insurance experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in property & casualty underwriting
  • Strong understanding of commercial P&C coverages
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with underwriting platforms, Excel, and data analysis
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple submissions under deadlines
