Resident Bus Driver/ Activities Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver/Activities Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting passengers/individuals with/without special needs, to their designated locations. This role requires excellent driving skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Additional scheduling hours may also include activities assistant for residents.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a bus or van, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transit.
- Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety.
- Communicate effectively with management, residents, families, providers, and other stakeholders regarding schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries and concerns in a friendly manner.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, and passenger counts.
- Facilitate assigned community activities for residents and encourage participation in a positive and exciting demeanor.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and clean MVR.
- Experience as a van/bus driver is preferred.
- Familiarity with paratransit services is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks.
- Proficiency in English for effective communication with passengers and team members.
- Previous experience in school bus driving or similar roles is advantageous.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills while interacting with diverse groups of people.
- Positive approach to get residents involved in community activities and to support the Activities Director in facilitating assigned activities.
