Position Summary:
The Assistant Manager assumes leadership responsibilities in relation to the residents and staffing of The Morning Light Home. This hourly position oversees tasks and assists during shifts to ensure high-quality care and operational efficiency. The Assistant Manager will act as a caregiver on scheduled shifts, participate in the on-call rotation, and step in to manage operations when the Director of Programming is out. Additionally, this role supports administrative duties, conducts staff training as needed, and assists with staff development.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of related experience in the industry required.
- Knowledge of the philosophy, mission, leadership, and planning needs of the organization is preferred.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and problem-solve effectively.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft products.
- Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages shift-specific communication with caregiving staff.
- Conducts trainings as needed to meet organizational goals and staff development needs.
- Identifies coaching needs and coordinates with the Director of Programming to address them.
- Oversees caregiving staff workflow in tandem with the Director of Programming.
- Communicates disciplinary needs to the Director of Programming.
- Participates in the on-call rotation.
- Works at least one or more weekends per month.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Monitors departmental performance and identifies opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Assists in managing shift operations and ensures resident needs are met, advocating for resident care.
- Assists with inventory management by reporting supply needs to the Director of Programming.
- Promotes safety by enforcing protocols and ensuring compliance with policies.
- Serves as an ambassador for Morning Light by giving tours, joining committees, and representing the Home positively.
- Steps in to manage operations when the Director of Programming is out.
- Conducts trainings and staff development sessions as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas constructively and clearly.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to assign and delegate tasks effectively

Reporting Relationship: This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Programming.
