Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grant Writer to raise funds for our arts educational organization. We have outstanding college and career pathway programs and serve thousands of diverse public school students. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for our programs and initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of grant proposal writing, strategic planning, and program development to effectively communicate our organization's mission and needs to potential funders.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources and grant opportunities.
  • Write compelling grant proposals that clearly articulate project goals, objectives, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders and stakeholders to enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with board chair and Managing Director to gather necessary information for proposals and reports.
  • Edit and proofread grant applications and reports for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines.
  • Utilize databases such as Raiser's Edge for tracking proposals, reporting outcomes, and managing donor relationships.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to align grant writing efforts with organizational goals.

Skills

  • Proficient in proposal writing with a strong command of technical writing skills.
  • Excellent research abilities to identify relevant funding opportunities.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills to ensure high-quality submissions.
  • Familiarity with fundraising principles and practices, particularly in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience in financial report writing and budgeting for grant proposals.
  • Ability to develop programs that align with strategic planning initiatives.
