Join Our Team — Streets Equipment Operator

Do you enjoy working outdoors, operating heavy equipment, and making a real impact in your community? The City of Universal City is looking for a skilled Streets Equipment Operator to join our Public Works team

As a Streets Equipment Operator, you'll operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain streets, storm drains, parks, and public areas. Every day offers something different — from operating backhoes and street sweepers to maintaining sidewalks and installing traffic signs. What You'll Do:

  • Operate heavy equipment: backhoe, front end loader, dump truck, street sweeper, motor grader, and more
  • Maintain streets, drainage systems, city parks, sidewalks, and common areas
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and report repairs
  • Apply herbicides safely and maintain chemical inventory records
  • Train new team members and promote on-the-job safety
  • Participate in rotating "on-call" shifts for after-hours and emergency response

What We're Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of construction, maintenance, or heavy equipment operation experience
  • Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) or ability to obtain within one year
  • Strong work ethic, safety-focused, and great communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed, and rotating on-call shifts

Physical Requirements:

This is an active, hands-on role requiring lifting (up to 100 lbs.), equipment operation, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
