Overview

The Jefferson Hotel, one of Richmond's most iconic luxury destinations, is seeking a warm, polished, and guest-focused individual to join our team as a Tea Host. This part-time position plays a key role in creating an elegant and welcoming experience for guests enjoying our renowned Afternoon Tea service. The Tea Host ensures a gracious arrival and departure experience, manages reservations and seating, and assists in maintaining the refined atmosphere that defines this long-standing Jefferson tradition.

This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a natural sense of hospitality.

Schedule

  • Now through November: Fridays & Saturdays, 11:45 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Starting December: Mondays through Saturdays, 11:45 AM – 4:30 PM

Key Requirements

  • Availability: Must be available for the scheduled Tea Service hours listed above, including holidays as needed.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a fine dining or upscale hospitality environment preferred; strong customer service background required.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work Ethic: Dependable, professional, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Culture Fit: Gracious, and attentive to guest needs, with a refined sense of service appropriate for a luxury environment.

Basic Functions & Scope

  • Serve as the first point of contact for guests attending Afternoon Tea, ensuring a welcoming and polished experience.
  • Manage reservations, seating, and guest flow in coordination with the Tea and Food & Beverage teams.
  • Provide information about tea offerings, menu items, and hotel amenities.
  • Maintain the appearance and readiness of the tea service area, ensuring all details meet The Jefferson's high standards.
  • Assist with guest inquiries, special requests, and accessibility needs in a professional and courteous manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat guests promptly with a friendly and elegant demeanor.
  • Manage reservation systems to ensure efficient and accurate seating.
  • Monitor guest flow and communicate with service staff to maintain smooth operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of daily menus, special offerings, and hotel services.
  • Support the Tea Service team with light duties as needed to ensure an exceptional experience.
  • Ensure the entry and dining areas remain organized, clean, and guest-ready throughout service.

Qualifications

  • Prior hosting or hospitality experience preferred; fine dining background a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and behavior.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
