Position Overview
The Instructional & Assessment Coach will play a dual role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school. This individual provides coaching and professional development to teachers to enhance instructional practices, increase student achievement, and ensure equitable outcomes for all learners. Additionally, the Instructional & Assessment Coach manages all aspects of school-wide assessments—ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a smooth testing experience for students and staff.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Instructional Coaching & Support
- Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, and assessment practices.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback aligned with school and district instructional priorities.
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs), data meetings, and targeted coaching cycles.
- Support the implementation of school-wide instructional initiatives, curriculum alignment, and evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Model effective instructional practices, including differentiation, student engagement, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for instructional improvement.
- Provide individualized coaching and professional development that supports teacher growth and student success.
Testing Coordination
- Oversee all aspects of standardized and school-based testing (e.g., SAT, PSAT, NWEA MAP, state assessments, interim benchmarks).
- Facilitate school-based testing and makeup testing as needed
- Develop and maintain the school's annual testing calendar in coordination with district and state guidelines.
- Train staff on testing procedures, security protocols, and accommodations.
- Coordinate materials, logistics, and schedules for all testing windows.
- Ensure compliance with all testing regulations and maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Communicate testing information and updates to staff, students, and families.
- Analyze assessment data to support instructional decision-making and intervention planning.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Serve as a member of the instructional leadership and MTSS teams.
- Partner with administrators to align instructional priorities with school goals.
- Support new teacher induction and mentoring.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high expectations for staff and students.
- Modeling and contributing to a school culture of hope and high expectations for student academic achievement and postsecondary attainment.
- Actively engaging in student enrichment activities, e.g., meetings, retreats, outings, and evening events, as needed to support the educational program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, subject-related field, or other degree with a heavy focus on content (required) (Master's Degree preferred).
- Ability to analyze and create visual representations of relevant data (i.e Excel and/or Google Sheets)
- Eligibility for certification.
- Teaching experience with youth at the secondary level.
- Familiarity with research-based instructional methods and curriculum development.
- Ability to work collaboratively to support student academic and personal development.
- Knowledge of student-centered instruction, performance-based assessments, and youth development principles.
