POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Employee Health Manager and Employee Health Physician, plans, organizes and delivers Employee Health Services offered by the Health System to its employees.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Completion of a registered nurse degree program.

Experience:

  • Two years recent nursing experience.

  • Previous experience as an Occupational/Employee Health Nurse preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and organize work to achieve established goals.

  • Must be able to ensure strict confidentiality of employee health concerns and records.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

License/Certification/Registration:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.

  • Valid Driver's license.

  • Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives minimal supervision from the Employee Health Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Pre-Placement Exam

  • Performs nurse based pre-placement exam, utilizing a comprehensive health history and assessment.

  • Ensures all components of the exam are completed in accordance with Employee Health policy 100% of the time.
  • Assists the employee in identifying appropriate resources for follow-up medical evaluation of abnormal findings.

  • Policy development and maintenance of Employee Health Policy and Procedures Manual

  • Under supervision of the Employee Health Manager, assists in the development of Employee Health policies as needed.

  • In accordance with the review schedule, reviews and updates the Employee Health Policies and Procedures as needed.
  • Assists in the orientation and education of affected personnel when new policies are implemented.

  • Record Keeping

  • Develops and maintains employee health records including new-hire exams, required screening tests, immunizations, and emergency treatment records for employee health and work-related injuries.

  • Maintains all Employee Health records in a confidential manner 100% of the time.

  • Employee Health Screening Programs

  • Plans, advertises and performs employee screening programs according to established procedures 100% of the time.

  • Conducts appropriate post-exposure medical surveillance in accordance with established policies and protocols and notifies the effected employee of the results with recommendations for follow-up care when indicated 100% of the time.

  • Injury Prevention

  • Assists the Employee Health Manager with compiling and analyzing employee injury data to identify possible trends and develop an appropriate action plan when trends are identified.

  • Assists in the development and conduct of injury prevention educational programs with the assistance of the Education Department.

  • Follow-up of Employee Health related Emergency Department employee evaluations

  • Reviews emergency treatment records for employee health related visits and follow-up as directed by the Employee Health Physician 100% of the time.

  • Reviews employee infection control related concerns with the Employee Health Physician and the Infection Prevention and Control Manager.

  • Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine Programs

  • Assists in the development and implementation of health promotion or preventive medicine programs when needed.

  • Develops an Employee Health newsletter when needed.
