SUMMARY 

The Plant Manager (Dayton) is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this position leads all aspects of plant performance—safety, quality, delivery, and cost—while building high-performing teams and executing strategic initiatives. The Plant Manager plays a critical role in shaping the future of the business by leveraging Lean, ERP, and Six Sigma methodologies to deliver measurable results in a fast-paced, customer-driven manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

· Lead and execute plant strategy deployment to achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for revenue, operating income, and growth.

· Partner with executive leadership to establish plant policies and priorities aligned with company objectives.

· Direct and oversee manufacturing operations, including production, scheduling, logistics, inventory control, quality, and maintenance.

· Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency, productivity, throughput, and cost-effectiveness.

· Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, operating procedures, and quality requirements across all plant functions.

· Forecast labor requirements, oversee workforce planning, and recommend changes to equipment, layouts, production methods, or materials handling.

· Develop and manage plant budgets, ensuring compliance with financial objectives.

· Ensure safe and reliable maintenance of facilities, equipment, and machinery, including preventive maintenance programs.

· Build and develop strong teams by promoting accountability, coaching, mentoring, training, and talent development.

· Leverage ERP systems and analytical tools (including advanced Excel) to monitor performance and drive data based decision making. 

· Establish and maintain premier customer service by working with internal and external customers to leverage company technologies, products, and services.

· Maintain awareness of industry trends and the competitive environment to inform strategic decisions.

· Approve and oversee personnel recommendations, staffing, and performance management.

· Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or operations management required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing plant operations with emphasis on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and business systems.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and capital investment planning. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to engage persuasively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a team-oriented focus.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of plant leadership functions, including production, quality, maintenance, and support teams. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The work environment is fast paced and dynamic, requiring strong leadership presence and urgency in decision making.
