Assembly Operator I

Summary: A successful Assembly Operator I can safely and efficiently assemble products that meet all quality requirements. This is an hourly, non-exempt position and reports to the Complex Assembly & Fulfillment Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and specifications. Use parts list and retrieve all parts needed to assemble order. Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, hand tools, and power tools. Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and scales. Utilize sand blast and wash & dry equipment. Use the proper lifting method depending upon size and weight of the item to be assembled, Continually inspect products and processes throughout assembly. Inspect and test the final assembly to ensure it meets specifications. Crosstrain on plant machinery as required. Minimum Qualifications: High school Diploma or GED required. Strong written and verbal communication skills including working with quality and production control. Strong mechanical aptitude. Team player mentality. Basic crane and forklift experience. Assembly blueprint reading skills. Capable of understanding and following written and verbal work instructions. Understanding of BOM's (Bill Of Materials). Troubleshooting capabilities. Ability to inspect work and meet quality expectations. Ability to identify and share process improvement ideas, lean thinker. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
