Position Overview

The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing daily and weekly production schedules for aluminum window and door manufacturing operations. This role ensures that customer orders are completed on time, production resources are efficiently utilized, material availability aligns with production plans, and workflow across multiple lines (windows, doors, thermal break, machining, and assembly) remains balanced and efficient. The Production Scheduler plays a key role in communication between production, materials, engineering, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, staffing levels, and material availability
  • Prioritize orders and adjust schedules to support hot/priority jobs and service recovery needs
  • Coordinate scheduling across multiple manufacturing areas, including machining, thermal break insertion, framing, glazing, and final assembly
  • Work closely with materials and purchasing teams to ensure raw materials, components, and hardware are available ahead of production needs
  • Monitor daily progress and adjust schedules based on equipment downtime, staffing changes, or quality issues
  • Communicate schedule changes and expectations to production supervisors and team leads
  • Identify recurring scheduling issues and collaborate with leadership to implement improvements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on lead time reduction, efficiency, and workflow optimization
  • Maintain ERP system data related to work orders, build schedules, and capacity planning

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in production scheduling or planning in a manufacturing environment required; experience in window and door or aluminum fabrication industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and capacity planning
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling software
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
  • Proficiency in Excel and basic data reporting

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of aluminum extrusion, thermal break processes, and glazing operations
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Understanding of BOM structures and routing steps

Physical & Work Environment

  • Office environment with regular time spent on production floor
  • Ability to stand and walk through manufacturing areas as needed
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions (noise, moving equipment, temperature variations)
