Position: Part-Time Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Inpatient Pediatric Developmental Disability Unit

Hours: Full-Time/Part-Time

Location: Straith Hospital - Southfield, MI (In-Person)

The unit is scheduled to open mid-February or early March 2026. Employment will begin January 2026.

We are seeking a LMSW to join our team in our Inpatient Pediatric Developmental Disability Unit. The Social Worker is responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluation the social service function of this facility in accordance with current existing federal, state, and local standards, as well as our established policies and procedures, to ensure that the medically related emotional and social needs of the patient are met and maintained on an individual basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide and maintain a high standard of patient-centered interventions across inpatient and outpatient units.
  • Support patient intake and discharge processes, serving as the primary contact for families during admission.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial evaluations, addressing family dynamics, social support, and barriers to care.
  • Identify and document risk factors, such as trauma history, foster care involvement, or social determinants of health.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, pediatricians, BCBAs, nurses, and other professionals to ensure a holistic treatment approach.
  • Communicate with external providers (schools, case managers, outpatient therapists) to coordinate care and continuity.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance processes and required documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between family, medical team, and behavioral health perspectives to support integrated, multidisciplinary care.
  • Assist in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of social service functions within the facility.
  • Participate in meetings with administration, medical team, and nursing staff to align on social service priorities and processes.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with community agencies, home health providers, and social service organizations.
  • Contribute to the development and review of departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • LMSW required;
  • At least two (2) years of clinical social work experience with children in the last five (5) years is required;
  • Must have extensive knowledge of social work principles and theories and maintain a current knowledge of changes and trends in the field;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team;

Pay: $ $41.00 per hour
