Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our traveling field team. This role involves frequent on-site work with physician practices across the country to establish new laboratories, train clinical staff, perform high-complexity test validations, and support ongoing lab operations. The ideal candidate has direct experience managing highly regulated laboratories and is well-versed in CLIA regulations, laboratory instrumentation, and analytical validation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client clinics (up to 75% of the time) to establish or enhance laboratory operations.
  • Perform high-complexity analytical validations for general chemistry and molecular testing..
  • Train clinic staff and technicians on instrumentation, workflows, and compliance best practices.
  • Provide guidance on CLIA regulations and assist with ensuring compliance.
  • Install, validate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including extractors, PCR systems, and automated chemistry analyzers.
  • Author quality documentation, procedures (internal and external), training materials, and CAPA to ensure process improvement and compliance.
  • Collaborate with physician-owners and clinic staff to develop sustainable lab management practices.
  • Support ongoing client accounts through technical expertise, compliance oversight, and quality management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology or related field (required).
  • ASCP or equivalent MLT/MLS certification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory. Laboratory management and/or supervision experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations, quality systems, and laboratory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular (PCR, extraction platforms) and general chemistry analyzers.
  • Experience with method validation and regulatory documentation.
  • Excellent communication and training skills; ability to work with diverse teams of healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% nationwide.
  • Clinical laboratory experience with a strong foundation in laboratory procedures.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis skills.
  • Experience in hospital settings is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques including specimen processing and assays.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $ $32.77 per hour
