About us:

Woodroe Woods School is a small non-profit preschool and elementary program in San Leandro, CA. We are a team of creative, collaborative, and experienced educators looking to fill the role of preschool classroom teacher. We are seeking a communicative, passionate team player with a strong commitment to nurturing the whole child.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans for preschool/pre-K aged children: Create theme related projects & classroom centers (including representation of multicultural holidays) that support active learning through open-ended curriculum, hands on activities, and play-based learning activities/games.

- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, while actively engaging with and supervising the students in your care.

- Introduce basic academic skills such as natural science, letters, numbers, shapes, and colors.

- Foster social and emotional development through positive reinforcement, modeling, and leading collaborative group activities.

- Monitor and assess each child's progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians, develop & maintain a professional rapport with parents & families through open communication, both written and verbal.

- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive learning environment - Open and tactful communication skills are a MUST

- Maintain a clean and organized classroom.

-Utilize incident reports to inform parents of injury or challenging behavior at school: Must demonstrate proficient writing mechanics, grammar, and spelling. -Meet the needs of children with varying abilities. -Maintain a professional and positive appearance & attitude. -Help support, guide & mentor assistant teachers, aides, and parent volunteers.

Qualifications:

- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, or minimum 12 ECE units

- Minimum of 2 years experience working with young children (ages 2-5)

- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early education

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment

- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with young children
