The Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team at Information Technology Services (ITS) within the University System of Georgia is seeking a Cloud ETL Developer.
Job Summary
The Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team at Information Technology Services (ITS) within the University System of Georgia is seeking a Cloud ETL Developer. This role supports the collection, transformation, reporting, and warehousing of data from various source systems to deliver high-quality analytics to researchers and decision-makers in higher education. The Data Engineer will develop innovative data solutions using the Microsoft Fabric platform, focusing on data integration, orchestration, and transformation to establish a strong foundation for data-driven initiatives across diverse projects supporting the collection, transformation, reporting, and warehousing of data from various source systems to deliver high-quality analytics to researchers and decision-makers in higher education. The Data Engineer will develop innovative data solutions using the Microsoft Fabric platform, focusing on data integration, orchestration, and transformation to establish a strong foundation for data-driven initiatives across diverse projects.
Responsibilities
Data Pipelines - 20
Assist in designing, building, and maintaining efficient and reliable data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric-centric data platforms and data warehouses.
Collaboration - 10
Collaborate with EDMA BI analysts, business analysts, and Research Policy & Analysis team members to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
ETL - 10
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes within the Microsoft ecosystem, effectively utilizing relevant Fabric solutions.
Monitoring - 10
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve issues.
Data Quality - 10
Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance throughout Microsoft Fabric environments.
Documentation - 10
Document data processes and workflows.
API Integration - 10
Integrate and manage APIs to facilitate data exchange between systems.
Troubleshooting - 10
Troubleshoot and optimize existing Fabric implementations for enhanced performance.
Agile Principles - 10
Apply agile principles to manage and deliver data engineering projects efficiently.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Required Experience
1-2 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, or Data Engineering disciplines in an enterprise IT environment
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Understanding of modern data warehousing concepts like Data Vault 2.0 or Medallion Architecture.
- Experience working with Power BI, including modeling, administration, role-based security, dataflows, Power Query, and DAX
- Previous experience working in higher education
- Experience working with Ellucian's Banner, Ellucian Ethos, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Workday, Slate CRM, Element 451 CRM, or TargetX CRM.
- Experience designing and managing enterprise data warehouses and information systems
- Demonstrated experience of developing and implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) systems using Azure Dev Ops or GitHub Enterprise (cloud).
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field.
Preferred Experience
1-2 years working experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining complex data pipelines with Microsoft Fabric.
- Basic understanding of data engineering concepts and practices.
- Solid experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling (dimensional, normalized).
Skills
Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other languages for data scripting, transformation, and automation.
