The goal of this position is to maximize guest satisfaction by planning, organizing, and developing the overall operation of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with Sheraton Garden Grove–Anaheim South Hotel and Marriott brand standards. This is a salaried, exempt leadership position and may require working more than 40 hours per week and weekends to meet business demands and ensure smooth operations. As a leader, this role is held to the highest standards of professionalism, communication, and conduct. The Housekeeping Manager must maintain fair and professional working relationships at all times with associates, leaders, ownership, and external partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes, implements, and updates operational standards and procedures for the Housekeeping Department.
  • Recruits, trains, and schedules all housekeeping staff members.
  • Prepares and maintains required reports such as room occupancy, department expenses, inventories, work hours, payroll, budgets, and other operational records.
  • Plans, prepares, and adjusts employee work schedules based on forecasted occupancy and business needs.
  • Conducts a daily morning meeting with housekeeping staff and manages daily departmental activities to ensure thorough and timely cleaning of guest rooms and all public areas.
  • Conducts quarterly housekeeping department meetings fully in Spanish and English to ensure understanding and alignment among all staff.
  • Ensures guest rooms are cleaned, inspected, and available according to Marriott brand standards.
  • Coordinates with other hotel departments to ensure services are delivered efficiently and guest needs are met promptly.
  • Continuously inspects guest rooms and public areas to evaluate physical conditions, identify maintenance needs, and report issues such as damage or missing items.
  • Regularly inspects the work of room attendants and housepersons to ensure it meets brand and departmental standards.
  • Provides daily room status updates to Front Office leadership.
  • Confers with staff to resolve performance concerns, address personnel issues, and communicate company policies.
  • Investigates guest complaints regarding housekeeping service or equipment and implements corrective actions and/or coach and counseling process.
  • Manages ordering, inventory, and cost control of housekeeping supplies, linens, equipment and managing checkbook expenses and submitting invoices to accounting in a timely manner.
  • Attends daily morning staff meetings to review guest feedback, policy updates, and operational priorities with leadership.
  • Assists with preparation of the annual department budget and monitors operating and payroll expenses to support hotel profitability.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained and in working condition.
  • Ensures all employees are trained on safety procedures, chemical handling, equipment use, and department standards to minimize accidents.
  • Ensures the department is equipped with adequate supplies and tools to perform job duties efficiently and safely.
  • Establishes clear performance standards; regularly evaluates employee performance and provides recommendations for merit increases.
  • Maintains housekeeping storage rooms in a clean, organized, and well-stocked condition.
  • Greets guests in a warm, professional manner and assists with questions regarding the hotel and local area.
  • Performs or assists with cleaning duties as necessary during high occupancy or staffing shortages.
  • Manages Lost & Found procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • Remains up-to-date with Sheraton Garden Grove–Anaheim South Hotel and Marriott brand standards.
  • Schedules staffing appropriately to avoid overtime abuse, understaffing, or service shortfalls, ensuring coverage aligns with forecasted occupancy and operational needs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of housekeeping supervisory and/or hotel experience required.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with excellent written, verbal communication skills and people skills.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment including phones, faxes, copiers, and scanners.

Languages

  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish is REQUIRED.
