Job DescriptionThe Role:Do you want to be part of a high-impact team where consumer and trend insights shape the future of mobility? This position is within the General Motors' Global Customer & Trends Insights research team and offers the opportunity to directly impact strategic decisions across the organization. The Global Trends Research Analyst role analyzes and communicates global future trends and partners with internal teams to help translate the trends into actionable insights that influence the development of new products, technologies, and experiences.___What You Will Do (primary responsibilities):Conduct Trend Analysis: identify, research, and write impactful trend reports on long-term, global, future trends in the areas of: Society, Technology, Economic, Policy, and Sustainability trends.Manage Trend Sources: Collaborate and coordinate leading trends / foresight supplier partners globally and assist in managing relationships, contracts, budget and subscriptions.Data Synthesis and Expertise: become a subject matter expert on trend topics utilizing analytical tools and data sources, both internal and external, to develop insights.Insight Storytelling: create and deliver compelling presentations that clearly communicate trend insights to inform strategic initiatives and leadership decisions.Trends Research: help conduct primary research studies that deep-dive the identified global trends in partnership with internal innovation teams developing ideas and concepts.Communicate: collaborate with the trends manager to dynamically communicate the global trends insights that will have the most impact on GM (including annual Global MegaTrends report, monthly Global Trends Network meetings, and monthly Trends Alert newsletter).Assist with Workshops: support workshops that apply trend insights to innovation projects.Drive Innovation: Explore new ideas and bold approaches, including the use of AI and emerging technologies, to deliver high-quality, trusted insights, ideas, and concepts.Continuous Learning: attend foresight & trends conferences, participate in professional network meetings.Develop Relevant Insights: understand automotive industry trends and consumer research insights to contextualize the trends and make the insights more actionable.Present and Participate: Present a professional image to teams through thoughtful participation (in meetings, ideation sessions, and workshops), exceptional presentation skills, and well-crafted writing skills.___What You Will Need (skills and education qualifications):Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.Experience: 3+ years experience in marketing, planning, foresight, trends analysis and/or consumer research.Analytical Skills: strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.Problem Solving: ability to work with projects that involve high levels of ambiguity.Project Management: strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Collaboration: proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, team-based environments.Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident enthusiastic presenter.Technical Proficiency: skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).___What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):Advanced Education: Master's degree, Foresight or Market Research-related certificationsForesight Skills: foresight and innovation research skills, experience, and education/trainingResearch Skills: proficient in conducting market research studies, data retrieval tools, and analyzing dataAI Integration: experience leveraging AI to enhance insights development (i.e. Copilot, Glean, etc.)Curiosity: interest and passion for innovation and the futureGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
