Part-Time Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic

Location: New York City (Upper East Side)

Schedule: Part-time / Flexible hours

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a variety of refrigeration and cooling systems across our bakery, market, and restaurant locations. This is a part-time position, ideal for an experienced technician looking for consistent work with a stable, long-standing NYC company.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-ins, display cases, reach-ins, and compressors
  • Respond to emergency service calls and perform on-site troubleshooting
  • Inspect, test, and replace defective components such as motors, controls, thermostats, valves, and fans
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair needs with management
  • Ensure all work meets NYC safety and DOH standards
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts and supplies as needed
  • Occasionally assist with HVAC and other light mechanical systems

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience with commercial refrigeration systems (food service or supermarket experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of refrigerants, controls, and wiring schematics
  • EPA Certification required
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple sites
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable working in active kitchen and retail environments
