Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions while working alongside professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to learn about corporate finance, non-profit accounting, and financial management.

Duties

  • Preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
  • Participate in balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting activities.
  • Conduct account analysis and assist with journal entries, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Help with budgeting and forecasting tasks, contributing to cash flow analysis.
  • Engage in financial report writing and interpretation for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on auditing processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks for various accounting tasks.
  • Gain exposure to specialized areas such as governmental accounting, and securities law.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of financial software applications is preferred; experience with Xero is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Prior experience or coursework related to public accounting, corporate finance, or financial services is advantageous but not mandatory.
