Applied Motion Products is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies. This role manages financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and cash flow while optimizing cost-saving measures and maintaining internal controls. Additionally, the Accounting Manager provides leadership to the accounting team and collaborates with HR and management to support strategic financial decision-making.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Supervise daily accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring adherence to internal controls, GAAP standards, company policies, tax laws, and financial regulations. Oversee state regulatory filings, sales tax reporting, and new state setups as needed.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the joint venture. Manage journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial audits by coordinating with internal and external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Analyze financial data, KPIs, and cash flow to provide insights for decision-making. Prepare the annual budget, track expenses, monitor working capital, and implement cost-saving measures to enhance profitability.
- Oversee fixed asset purchases, sales, disposals, and the yearly business property statement filing.
- Ensure proper inventory costing. Monitor bi-annual stock-taking variances, and resolve discrepancies.
- Assess customer credit risk based on AR data and approve financial transactions and payments to maintain accuracy and accountability.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members, fostering growth and efficiency. Partner with HR to ensure accurate processing of payroll, 401(k), benefits, and financial aspects of hiring and terminations.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- Work Experience
5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Skills/Attributes
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, financial regulations, and internal controls. Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis. Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. Proficiency in Excel, accounting software (e.g., SAP), and ERP systems. Leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring accounting staff. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities for working across departments and with external auditors.
- Qualifications (Education, Degrees, Certifications)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, CPA or CMA certification a plus. Additional training or certification in GAAP, tax regulations, or financial management is preferred.
