Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive knowledge of dental procedures, and proficiency with Dentrix. This role involves overseeing clinical operations, supporting dental staff, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and infection control. The Lead Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining efficient workflow within a comprehensive dental practice that includes general dentistry.

Duties

  • Provide chairside assistance during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic and treatments.
  • Manage and coordinate daily clinical operations, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
  • Operate and troubleshoot dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while maintaining proper safety standards.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control guidelines.
  • Support the dental team with medical documentation, medical records management, and accurate data entry into EMR systems such as Dentrix.
  • Assist with vital signs measurement and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Train and supervise junior staff or dental assistants in four-handed dentistry techniques and other clinical procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and to ensure precise communication and documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and the dental team to enhance patient experience and streamline clinic operations.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a strong background in general dentistry; Foreign trained dentist is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Dental terminology, dental imaging techniques, 3D scanners, and Dental documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
  • Experience with infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience as a Lead Dental Assistant is preferred; candidates should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to oversee clinical workflows effectively.
