Join Arkel International on the USAG-Kwajalein Atoll We're seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance and reliability program for a diverse fleet of construction and support equipment used in federal and DoD projects overseas.
About the Role
Arkel International is hiring a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and readiness of heavy construction equipment supporting ongoing USACE and Department of Defense (DoD) operations on USAG-Kwajalein Atoll.
The Maintenance Manager will supervise maintenance teams, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, manage equipment schedules and records, and ensure all machinery operates safely and efficiently. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to work in a remote, fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the heavy equipment maintenance program, ensuring optimal equipment performance and reliability.
- Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for construction and support equipment.
- Supervise maintenance personnel and coordinate workloads to meet project demands.
- Ensure compliance with all manufacturer guidelines, USACE, and DoD maintenance standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports for fleet and equipment status.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues.
- Order and manage spare parts and supplies inventory efficiently.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company safety policies.
- Coordinate equipment inspections, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate effectively with project management, logistics, and safety teams to support construction operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical).
- Experience maintaining fleets including dozers, excavators, cranes, loaders, graders, and support vehicles.
- Proficient in maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, and fleet management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Technology, or related field.
- Experience working on USACE, DoD, NAVFAC, or overseas construction projects.
- OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications.
- Prior experience managing maintenance operations in remote or austere environments.
